The new year will start off with a bang when the Grammy-nominated percussion ensemble Tambuco joins the orchestra! With 25 years of international concerts and recordings of original repertoire, Tambuco Percussion Ensemble has enjoyed an acclaimed career, establishing itself among the finest percussion quartets today. Audiences throughout the world have appreciated Tambuco’s musicianship in programs devoted to showcasing a vast universe of percussion music.

The PSO is also honored to perform a commissioned world premiere from the brilliant young composter Quinn Mason. The composition, Shine Time, is a short showpiece for orchestra designed to showcase the virtuosity of the PSO and celebrate Maestro Héctor Guzmán’s 41 fruitful seasons with the orchestra.

Praised as “one of the most sought-after young composers in the country” (Texas Monthly), composer and conductor Quinn Mason has distinguished himself as an artist of national and international renown. He recently finished a successful tenure as Artist in Residence of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra for the 2022–2023 Season. He also recently served as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Roots composer in residence in 2022 (the youngest composer appointed to that role) and as KMFA 89.5’s inaugural composer in residence.
