2025-2026 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The purpose of the
PSO Education Scholarship Program
To provide the life-changing opportunity of private music instruction to young instrumentalists who show musical potential and have demonstrated financial need.
WHAT THE PROGRAM DOES
The PSO Education Scholarship program awards provides weekly private instruction for both fall and spring semesters to deserving students. Approved PISD private instructors are assigned to recipients by school music directors. 191 scholarships have been awarded in the program through school year 25-26!
The Plano Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Scholarship Program for deserving students is generously supported by partner organizations, including the Plano Independent School District Council of PTAs and the Plano International Festival in addition to all our generous patrons and supporters. Thank you!
STUDENT SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated financial need
- Current 6th or 7th grader in PISD
- Clear musical potential
- Student essay
- References
- Parent approval
HOW TO APPLY
Interested students in the 6th or 7th grade must complete a student application, a school music director referral form, and a second recommendation from a teacher, coach, or other adult who knows you well by the required application deadline date.
TIMELINE
Applications for 2026-2027 will open in Spring 2026.
