Part symphony, part poem. Debussy’s innovative La Mer (The Sea) is one of the most influential pieces of the 20th century and has been an audience favorite for more than a hundred years. A brilliant orchestral work, it is truly one of the supreme achievements in symphonic literature.
The second half of the program will feature the three grand prize winners of the PSO’s annual Collin County Young Artist Competition performing their winning concertos: Bartok viola concerto (I movement), Reinecke flute concerto (III movement) and Rachmaninoff piano concerto No. 2 (I movement). Who knows, perhaps you’ll witness another Debussy in the making!
