MEMORIAL CONCERT

HONORING DR. CHRISTOPHER PARR

This concert, conducted by Maestro Héctor Guzmán, will feature some of Dr. Parr’s favorite pieces and is free and open to the public. No purchase is required. 

Dr. Parr retired in 2001 from teaching, research, and administrative duties as Dean of Undergraduates after 30 years with the University of Texas at Dallas. He began as Assistant Professor of Chemistry in 1971, having graduated from UC Berkeley (BS Chem) and Caltech (PhD Physical Chem). He did postdoctoral work at UC Irvine and the University of Toronto, the latter with Nobel Laureate John Polanyi. His research specialization is best described as “molecular ballet,” which seeks to understand the choreography of atoms during chemical reactions.
