From One Phantom to Another! Hugh Panaro was unexpectedly unable to join us for this Saturday’s concert with the PSO at the Eisemann Center and will be replaced by Broadway star, Gary Mauer. Gary Mauer was seen on Broadway as The Phantom in the The Phantom of the Opera, a role he previously performed on the National Tour. He also starred in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, performing the romantic leading role of Raoul. In addition, Mr. Mauer performed in the Broadway production of Les Miserables in the role of Enjolras. His national tour credits include Show Boat.Mr. Mauer has performed with symphony orchestras all over the world including the Brazil Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro, the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony (with Marvin Hamlisch), Hong Kong Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Utah Symphony and Opera, Buffalo Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony, San Diego Symphony, among many others. Mr. Mauer performs often with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and has toured with Mr. Nero in Spain. Gary was also the guest soloist in many concerts with the late Marvin Hamlisch.
For the third concert, the PSO heads straight to the Great White Way! The genre has always been one of Héctor’s favorites to perform, and the Plano Symphony will be joined by some of the best voices New York has to offer. They will perform familiar songs from Tony Award-winning (and Héctor favorite) Broadway shows like Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, and more!
