The creation of Leonard Bernstein’s famous work based on Psalm texts resulted from a commission by the Southern Cathedrals Festival at Chichester Cathedral. Dvořák’s “New World Symphony,” as it is often called, is one of the most popular symphonies performed today. It is based on Dvořák’s interest in Native American music. A recording of the work was taken to the moon by Neil Armstrong!
