Not heard by Plano Symphony Orchestra audiences in over six years, few works have become as popular as Orff's "Carmina Burana" - a collection of sacred and profane songs. Scored for large orchestra, chorus and three soloists, your Plano Symphony is joined by nearly 200 voices of the Plano Civic Chorus, Ralph Stannard, Director, the Richland College Chamber Singers, Dr. Michael Crawford, Director, and the Younger Generation Chorus, Tenesa Rasmussen, Director. The driving rhythms and sheer power of "Carmina Burana" have made the work immensely attractive as dance music and music for the cinema and for commercials. Audiences continue to follow performances of this compelling score with enthusiastic standing ovations. The performance begins with Schubert's sublime Symphony No. 5.
